Pasco Resists and Voices & Votes Announce "Community Awareness Event" Focused on Student Rights and School Board Accountability

For the last several weeks, I and many others, both inside and outside the school boardroom, have been fiercely advocating for the Pasco County School Board to retain the existing language protecting student peaceful assembly.

Apparently, our voices and our presence meant very little. After years without controversy, the School Board abruptly and without any clear justification, removed a dedicated 315-word section on student peaceful assembly and reduced it to just two words buried within a broader list of constitutional rights, offering little explanation beyond vague references to unspecified concerns.

On Tuesday, May 19th, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Pasco Resists and Voices & Votes will hold our first Community Awareness Event outside and during the next Pasco County School Board meeting. Together, we’ll peacefully rally in support of students’ rights while reminding our community that real change requires participation: paying attention, showing up, running for office, and voting.

We invite anyone who would like to speak - parents, students, educators, and concerned community members to join us and some of our local candidates and make their voices heard.
